Geniune Japanese Ground Self Defense Force 80's era Type-65 top. Made from a mid-weight 50/50 cotton/nylon blend twill fabric. The YKK brand zip bears a Sakura (Cherry blossom) flower symbol on the puller - In the 1870s, the Japanese government planted Sakura trees at the Yasukuni Shrine in Tokyo where Japanese soldiers were laid to rest. The blossom flower was transformed from a benign symbol of cultural identity into a representation of the bravery of soldiers and their rebirth as the flowers. The Japanese Military adopted the symbol, decorating military uniforms and insignia, a tradition that remains to this day.
